A new initiative

[mood: old] [listening to: new]

I'm proposing a new initiative for all the authors. Whenever during this summer you're just sitting around, bored, not doing anything... write a post! It will make a world a better place.

So I've started my internship up here in Nova. It's been good so far, thanks for asking. As I mentioned previously, I'll be doing web development stuff. Nothing to show off right now, but trust me. It's cool, again.

I've been thinking lately about how many "real worlds" we encounter in our lives. It's hard to imagine it, but remember when middle school was ending and high school was supposed to be the "real world?" Then it was college. For me now, it's this internship. Whatever I'm going through now certainly feels more real world-y than anything else I've done in the past. For one, I don't have a dining hall or my parents' money to rely on for food. I'm actually quite impressed at how long I've made the $14 I spent at tthe start of the week last in terms of food. (There's Maruchan in there somewhere, hint hint)

So. When does this series of real worlds end? To some, I'm sure the "real world" barrier comes definitively once they're out of high school. For others, maybe it's once they're married. Or have kids. (I've also watched the entire series so far of How I Met Your Mother in the last month, can you tell? It's good; I recommend it.)

For me, for right now, I like where I am: I'm in a "realer" world than I was in the past, but I know there's something still ahead to look forward to/dread. Related.

Colloquy on A new initiative

Daww, what a cute comic.

For me, my world has always been the real world. I just saw the financial transitions a regular part of life like moving from first grade to fifth grade. It all really depends on upbringing though. Some kids always have that financial stability from family, so that's their "real world." Going by your definition though, I guess for anyone it's when they reach true independence. Financially, etc.

You're next on Mrs. Smith's list. Better have something good.
