Realize

[mood: ;] [listening to: colbie caillat]

I am currently in Texas. Denton, to be precise. As if being in Northern Texas makes it any less hot. But then again, I've heard from the people still in Virginia Beach that it's been quite hot there too.

I'm at debate camp. On our way in from the airport, the driver of our car told some of us that there was band camp and that we'd be sharing our dorm hall with the band kids. Some of the debate kids started laughing, and I was tempted to ask them who they were trying to trick. I'm still trying to figure out in my head if debate camp or band camp is worse.

The food is horrible in the cafeteria. And I had an unpleasant experience yesterday with the salad bar. The food off campus consists of places like "Chicken Express," where they give you an entire tub of gravy for four pieces of chicken. So it's either shit or death. This perplexing mystery has led to me eating just dinner throughout the day. And lots of cherry coke.

I realized when I logged in today that the message "we shaved our pits" is still up. I guess we never told David to take it down.

The dorm situation is modest at best. Communal bathrooms. At least, though, we have an AC unit in each room. I feel bad for people who are staying at supposedly better universities right now who don't have air conditioning.

My room mate probably thinks I am the weirdest person he's ever met. I have colbie caillat, daft punk, and john mayer on all the time, to name a few. And I brought my nightlight. And a white horse toy. And I laugh a lot while I'm on my computer. But it's ok. He's going into ninth grade, and he doesn't mess with me. He's actually provided me with a supply of poptarts.

I hope you all are enjoying your summers. My birthday party will most likely be July 18th/19th, and I'd really like as many of you to come as possible. My brother and I got Rock Band for our birthday, so if there's any time that you have a hankering hunkering for Rock Band, consult me about a visitation. I haven't decided on a fee yet, but I'll work something out.

Take time to realize.

Headnovel

[mood: lonely, mhlm] [listening to: grooves]

Well I said when the summer came I'd update more. One counts as more than none. Although I'm now realizing that I barely have a "break" from school work this summer - this Friday I'm leaving for Cornell's summer college and when I'm back if everything works out, I'm going to start taking Physics at TCC with only about a week in between. And then a full Senior year of IB hits. This is the last summer we have before college, and I'm spending it doing school stuff. I'm not sure what kind of reflection of me that is.

I've got Guild on Friday as well, which I've been practicing like mad for, and I still have to memorize/solidify a couple of pieces. Right after Guild, we're driving up to New York. It's going to be a hell of a Friday. Which means, sorry Matt, I can't go to your party.

I just realized that at the bottom of the page, it says copyright from MMIV to MMVII. Everything on the site within the past six months isn't copyrighted. Well, as if there was really anything in the past six months...

I'll be sure to update when I'm gone though.

The Monsters are on Constitution Ave

[mood: kinda nostalgic, eh?] [listening to: -]

The Monsters are on Constitution Ave

Are your folks turning into ASIANS? Are our humble, white, pure, 100% Americans turning into Asians? Are the Americans we know who call themselves pure Americans but really originated from Italy, France, Germany, Sweden, Greece, or Spain turning into Chinks? Do you notice more and more people attracted to rice? Do you see more and more Americans going to Vietmanese resturants and obtaining Korean habits? Did you notice around your block, whitemen muttering Filipino phrases? If you are like me, you have noticed more and more Americans turning into Asians. After studying more than 2 whities, I have come up with some top 10 reasons to detect these monstars, and some tips to help you cope with these monstars.

10. Enjoying the Presence of Other Asians

In your all-Asian clique, do you notice more and more blonds? Are saying to yourself, "hey, our group looks more peachy, because yellow and white make peach, in Crayola's book." Studying the whities, they feel that when they hang around Asians, they indeed feel more Asian. Its a simple fact that "you hang with them, you are them."
To cope: Say firmly to these white people, "yo, my homie, don't be invading my space, yo." And throw in some random white words like "dawg" or "ya'll." If you aren't firm with white people they'll just laugh in your face and go microwave some Kraft Easy Mac.

9. Enjoying the Presence of Rice

When you are with your all-Asian group, and go to an American place like Outback Steakhouse, do you notice white people trying to order things like rice, even though its not on the menu? Well, this may be because the whitie is used to rice and craves it like blackmen craves FUBU. Or, do you notice more and more white places serving rice, such as Outback Steakhouse or Golden Coral? This may be because the white resturants whose majority of customers is white wants to appeal to white people, but since white people are addicted to rice, they start serving rice to accomidate to the new 21st century whitie needs.
To cope: When you see a whiteman ordering rice, kindly say to him, "ain't no way you be getting that rice, yo. you just trippin'." The previous phrase, spoken in whitiese, can be used to express dissapproval to whites.

8. Wearing Asian Characters

This applies to blacks, because you ain't see no whiteman wearing this crap. When you walk into Wal-Mart, do you notice a black man crossing infront of you with this shirt and when he turns around, you see the chinese words for "faithful men always questions orifice"?. Do you question who is the translator working for FUBU that could possibly put the words "faithful men" and "orifice" in the same phrase? After studying one black, I have noticed they have no gotdaim idea what the words on the back of his shirt means. He was telling his "home-dawg" this, "Hey, G, check the threads, it say, 'Love me with lust'."
To cope: Put on a tan and say to the black man, "Fer shizzle mah nizzle." That was just for attention grabbers. After you say that, dodge the punch that will quickly follow, because black people don't like people other than blacks using their language written by Snoop Dogg, and him only. Say after that in the most lil john tone you can muster, "YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAH!" Then say in the deepest tone you can aquire, "Please don't be wearing shirts that use the words 'faithful men' and 'orifice' in the same sentense." Then go back to you lil john voice and say, "OK?"

7. Sudden Interest in Sweatshops or Cheap and/or Child Labor

When whities trying to be Asian look into the history of the country they chose (weather it may be China, Mongolia, S. Korea, etc) (yes, they chose a country, they all got some Sam Adams one night, threw a bunch of slips of paper with Asian countries on them into a beer keg, and each drew their own country, i observed this. percurliarly, one man got Panama.) they are shocked to learn their country practicies poor/child labor and has swearshops. Growing up here in America, they know that sweatshops and poor/child labor is bad. So they have rallies making sure the public knows more about this kind of abuse over in Asia. However, what they don't know is that this is the norm in Asia and the kids there actually enjoy being in sweatshops cause its better than being abused by their parents at home.
To cope: If you see a whitie complain about labor policies in China, take them to a local McDonalds and let the seem the faces of the kids who just got a Happy Meal with a Spongebob toy. Let them see the smiles on their faces and say, "yo, see, kids make toys for other kids. no biggie. Now go microwave yourself some Kraft Easy Mac."

6. Interest in Anime or Manga

You just don't see white people walking around hanging out with their friends saying, "Hey, did you see the new episode of Yu-Gi-Oh? Its awesome! Suk-Mi-Wang had this UBER-COOL thing where he just went 'CHING-CHANG-CHOP' and Yu-Da-Ho just went 'ah!' and collapsed." You just don't. See, Asians, weather be 8, 14, or 22 or any age is in love with Anime. Most Asians. The stereotypicals ones. Like Albert. And Jed. And Josh Ever. If you are Asian, and you say you haven't seen a single Anime series in your life, you pants fire right then. Therefore, whities, wanting to be more Asian, watch intensively Animes such as Cardcaptors, Evangelion, or Cowboy Bebop, or any anime. After studying these whities, the ones who can't affored to buy the dubbed DVD and get the bootleg off of kazaa or bearshare with subtitles and Japanese audio, start speaking Japanese. You wouldn't believe this unless I told you but, I heard a whitie go, "Watakushi go for a beer right about now."
To cope: Challenge them to a anime face-off. Be like, "Hey, you turd, I bet you don't know what happens in minute 12 of episode 3 of Ranma 1/2!" The whitie will most likely bow down to you in a fashion he's seen in Tehcni Moyou. Whilst bowing to you, quickly get a friend to slap him in the ass to slapp the white back into him.

5. Enjoying the Presence of a Parent

If the monstar you are inquiring about is under 18, most likely he will want to be with a parent most of the time, for he is afraid that if he goes out alone, he will be beasted on by true Asians, so his parents are there gaurding him. Plus, you don't see many Asians walking in the mall alone. Its always with his friends, or with the parents. Never alone. You seeing an Asian alone in the mall is like seeing Chris Rock in a KKK meeting. Therefore, Asians hang with parents. Therefore, whities hang with parents. Or if the parents are temerarily unavaliable, they'll go with Asian friends. Refer to #10.
To cope: Stalk the whitie til he goes to the bathroom. When he goes, say, "Yo. You're <insert age here>. Don't you think its about time you walk the malls with other WHITE PEOPLE?" Push him into the wall a couple of times. Let the message sink in. Then put his mouth under the hand dryer and push the button. If you're a guy, take a piss. If you're a girl, do your hair, fluff up your skirt, look good for me.

4. Sudden Ownage in DDR

When you go to the arcade at the mall with your parents or "homie g-dwags", do you notice the DDR systems getting filled up with more and more whites? Are more and more Asians losing and have to forfit their arrows to a whiteman? Man, we Asians gonna break off your legs, put you in a sweetcase. When you see two whites on the DDR machine and Asians with glasses and greasy hair with tokens in their hands behind them, something is going down. You ain't never seen a whitie thats good at DDR that doesn't order rice at Outback or isn't against child labor. You just don't.
To cope: You and three other friends walk up to a side of the machine, and commence conversation with one of the whities. Wait until one side says the phrase, "Oh, its on!" The other whitie, a friend of the other whitie, will then step off his/her side and then you and your three friends take it over. Each Asian, obtaining one square each, will press their square then the corresponding arrow appears on the screen. When you win, say to the whitie, "You got served!" Commence immediate evacuation of arcade because you know hes mad now.

3. Sudden Interest in Good Grades

Asians, we are always obsessed with straight A's and cry whenever we don't get them. That was a joke. No offense to anyone that actually DOES cry when they don't get straight A's. (don't kick my ass, please.) Whites, however, could be less concerned about grades. But whities, studying Asians like I've studied whities, learn that to fit in with Asians, you must get good grades and would not settle for a B on a test. They therefore, study, study, study.
To cope: During a test, take one of your scrap pieces of paper, write, "YOU AIN'T NO CHINK" and fold it into a paper airplane (not a traditional one, mind you, cause i know all you geeks and Asian nerds have at least one paper airplane book, use one of those genious designs) and without the teacher seeing, throw it at the whitie. The whitie will be heartbroken by this message and cry and spoil his scantron. Since your teacher is an equivilant to Mrs. Branum and doesn't keep extra scantrons, he will fail that test. He will never try to be Chink again.

2. Ability, Skill, and Agility to Play Piano and Violin

You aren't Asian if you don't play the Piano or the Violin, and you are double Asian if you play both. Enough said. Whities who want to be Asian, you can figure it out, you geniouses.
To cope: Outwit him in piano or violin. Show him a 5 octave C-sharp major scale on the violin or glissando the whole keyboard including the black keys. He'll die somewhere around the 3rd B-sharp in the C-sharp major scale. Trust me, I've seen whities crumble at this, and I tell you, its not the greatest sight in the world.

1. Sudden or Increased Interest in Asian Girls

Don't even get me started. Whities, you got your blonds, brunettes, whatever. Don't be invading on our girls. The one thing I hate worst in this world is interracial relationships. They gross me out. Thats how Hawaiians got started, and I'm telling you, those grass skirts are just naaaasty and so are those dancers in them. Who in their right mind would play a ukelele instead of a guitar? I tell you who. HAWAIIANS. A perfect mix of whities and Asians. It combines the Asian shy-ness, so they're afraid to be "too cool" and play guitar, but the whitie coolness, so they play the guitar, but they're too shy, so they play the gotdaim mini-guitar, or ukelele, which in my opinion makes you look fat, even if you are the skinniest bastard in the world, you still look fat. Have you seen one ukelelian thats not fat? Exactly.
To cope: Get your sibling to drive the bullet proof Benz SUV that you have and take out your dad's AK from the closet. Do a drive-by at his house. Problem solved. Next day, when the Asian girl is crying at the lawn of his shot-up house, go over to her and put your arm around her and say something along the lines of "it'll be fine, I'll get whoever did this." And voila. You have the Asian girl of your dreams and a whitie that was never ment to be Asian.

Time

[mood: ] [listening to: debussy]

where has the time gone/ as im unpacking my room for tomorrow, im looking at the fans i bought from the philippines three years ago. has that much changed/ i look at the notes from last year, the magazines..anyway, im cleaning up a year of accumulated filth in my room. im unpacking boxes that should have been unpacked last july, and trying not to stay too long. i want comments tomorrow from everyone whos coming about how nice and clean the room looks.

its supposed to rain tomorrow, which would hex the swimming. oh well. the screen porch is done enough to where chairs can be put outside. and theres always karaoke. regardless of the rain, we're still doing the pinatas.

last night i made 100 lumpia with my mom. being my first time, im disappointed to tell you that some of them might look a little weird. im trying to convince my mom to help me make 50 more tonight, because 100 will go fast. she told me that her lola used to make 500 of them for parties, which takes about ten hours. tonight we're making the menuedo.

lately ive been captured by the haunting melodies of debussy. at our june recital, roderick played the first arabesque and joseph played clair de lune. i dont know who got me the fye gift card last year, but i recently used it to purchase some 'the best of debussy' compilation, which is working out for me. i also bought a 'the best of doo wop volume 9' cd. anyway, try those two, or perhaps his nocturnes - sirenes, la fille aux cheveux de lin, or doctor gradus ad parnassum.

in two years ill be going to college. maybe a lot will change then. whats happened in two years/ ive moved, but im doing pretty much the same stuff. anyway, back to cleaning my room and emptying boxes.

ps my shift key is broken.

So this is summer vacation, eh?

[mood: schm':((((((ish?] [listening to: japs]

So Jeff and I went to Macarthur yesterday and basically screwed around the whole day. We went into the Discovery Store and everything was on sale, so I wanted something. Long story short, I got this Rubik's Cube. And now I can solve it in under five minutes, with some luck. Some luck being I can skip a step or two here or there because of... well, luck. My best time is 4:33. Still quite a bit of time, considering some of the reigning champs. Now I wanna get a 2x2x2 cube.

We also went on this crazyass Ring of Fire ride at this carnival outside of Greenbrier Mall. Long story short, a redneck hung us upside down on this ride. Blood rushed to our heads. Ask Jeff for the rest, I'm kinda tired of talking about yesterday already.

Oh, and I've been watching Love Hina a lot. Shamefully, I'm almost done. Finally, I can be done and concentrate on other things. It really is a good series, though. I know all the plot twists and stuff because I've seen it before, but hey. The dramatic parts still get you.

  • I witness a murder today - Harrowing eyewitness tale of a murder by a boy who saw everything on his school bus. Obviously, some people were up to no good and started making trouble in his neighborhood.

  • I don't want this Lexus! - Girl turns 15, gets a Lexus. Curses her mom out and says she hates her. Mmm, America. Give me the car, dammit. And isn't the show Super Sweet Sixteen? Need an abacus, MTV?

  • Boost your car remote signal - WITH YOUR BRAIN!!! This is seriously insane. Jeff told me about this and I tried it, thinking it was some crazy claim. Its not. The signal from your car beeper travels from your chin through your head through your brain, which acts like an antenna, boosting the signal. I did this like for forever. I think I'm gonna get cancer.

Live to see another day

[mood: schm':((((((ish? maybe.] [watching: love hina]

I got 10 days left til June 30 to figure out what I'm going to do. After that, all the archives will roll over and run into each other. I designed this site without thinking about years. Ooh. Terrific. Maybe I just won't do anything about it - who really uses the Archives anyway? Although, it is fun to take trips down memory lane and look at what we were writing long ago. Last year's schedules, anyone?

So I got pretty bored today so I dug around tv-links.co.uk. I've basically watched all the Family Guy episodes on that site, saw the Lost finale again, and watched some Futurama. Not a bad site. Seriously, at all. And today, I gotta say, shamefully, I started watching Love Hina again. God, its been a real long time since I saw that last. I remember why I enjoy the series. Its funny. And its got that perfect love-tetrahedron tension that anyone can relate to.

Brings back memories of (i think what was) 6th grade, when I downloaded the whole series on KaZaA. I'm ashamed to even say that. I used KaZaA. But now, I'm watching it on Veoh, a place for real high-quality videos. They stream the original resolution, unlike other sites that downscale them. And you can find mostly anything you want. It might be invite-only, I'm not sure. I know you have to log in to use it. I joined this a long time ago but never used it til today. Not that bad, actually.

  • Marble Adding Machine - This kinda stuff fascinates me. To an extent. Its pretty cool, nonetheless. It would be a cool project to work on for some class. Its just that I don't know any "Applying Math to Physical Objects" class.

  • Images that changed the world - A collection of images that have, well, changed the world. The one of the Vietcong always gets to me no matter how many times I see it. Clicking on some reveal further stories and video.

  • DinOsaUr fUn FacTs - Brought to you by the Jesus Crab Shack. Help us, God.

A bit disorienting, eh?

[mood: schm':(((((ish?] [listening to: olds]

Kinda makes you appreciate the left, doesn't it?

In case you haven't noticed (hit refresh on your browser if you really haven't), I've revamped the site look a bit. Not much, just tinkered around with some CSS. I centered everything, and with everything centered, I had the freedom to bump the site's content from 66% of your browser window to 71%, without losing the sense of the blue surrounding. I also enlarged the size of the topic links up there to give a stronger sense of location. Additionally, instead of having dotted lines at the bottom of posts, there is now a separation. This is the most experimental thing I'm dealing with - its likely I'll change it to something else later. Like the changes? Don't like them? Feedback, please.

I also made some significant enhancements to the Bloober. I enlarged the box where you type, enlarged the names which make bloobs and authors more distinct, and links now show up properly in a bloob. I also added a counter at the top of the page calculating the number of days since April 8th, 2007, at 6:08:59pm when Krista started the current little game in there. Kinda inspires you to keep it going, I think. Or maybe the opposite. Who knows. Probably the most significant change I made was making it easier to check who posted and when. Before, I made a little hack to the title attribute of the name tag so that when you moused over the name, it displayed information. However, its now easier with less wait. Simply click on a name and the information appears under the bloob. Nifty, huh? Again, and as always, feedback is appreciated.

  • Whats wrong with this picture? - It took me a while to figure out too. Ask me for help if you need it. Give a shout in the comments if you can figure out what it is.

  • Bush vetoes stem cell bill for the wrong reason - Bush justifies his veto by saying that if this stem cell bill were passed, it would be the first time American taxpayers would be forced to support the "deliberate destruction of human embryos." That, according to this article, is not the case. The bill funds research that would use embryos to be discarded regardless. Why throw away a perfectly good steak when there's a hungry homeless man around the corner?

  • Bulletball - Its hard not to feel sorry or feel sad for this guy. I guess its sometimes hard to see past dreams, isn't it? Some are just too good.

[mood: ?????????????????] [eating: Hunan Shrimp and Fy rice]

Did you know Steven Spielberg produced/created shows like the Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, and Tiny Toons??? MAN! THAT IS SO AWESOME!! Also, if you can tell me where my title is from, I will give you a dollar and sixty-two cents.

Speaking of Spielberg and his awesomeness, Transformers looks pretty awesome. When they announced the movie, I thought "Ew. It's another crappy cartoon/game to live action movies." Then I found out Spielberg was going to work on it. I was like ":O no wai!" I was thinking, how is this movie not going to suck? It was hard to figure out. Most cartoon/game to live action movies suck, but like everything Spielberg does is AWESOME. Well, while I pondered that, the trailer came out. I watched it. Hell yes.
Hey Greg, I found out the robots in the movie actually do talk :\. Too bad. Hopefully that won't make it suck.

YES.
I am pretty sure everyone that cares knows that StarCraft II is being made. When it was first announced, everyone came in their pants. Afterwards, some people had some second thoughts. What it if the sequel doesn't turn out to be that great? What if it is worse than the first one? Then there would probably be a huge uproar in Korea. Well, with the PC Gamer article, it looks like it will be awesome. What really got me was this:

The current plan is to keep the unit cap at 200. In terms of unit higlighting, the development team is testing the option to let you select an unlimited of units at the same time. [sic]
Unlimited unit highlighting ftw. Also, Blizzard is consulting the top Starcraft and Warcraft III players in Korea "for the balance and design process." So I think the StarCraft franchise is in good hands. It is in the hands of the people. Another thing that I am glad to hear is that the hero units won't be like the ones in WCIII. Hero units were one of the main reasons I disliked playing Warcraft III. Well, Starcraft also had hero units, but they were not like WC hero units, where you leveled them up and crap. The SC hero units were just normal units with better stats [Infested Kerrigan ftw]. And when you highlighted them, their box was white. Other than that. No real difference.

Why is it you rarely hear about stories like this? There was also a story a while back about like a 13 year old boy chasing out robbers with a bat or something. I forget.

Sicko review + more

[mood: schm'face-ish] [listening to: olds]

I think there have been a few summer questions posted in the Bloober recently. How's mine been? Oh, thanks for asking. Bo-ring. There's only so much Cash Cab I can take at one time.

I've been watching Michael Moore's Sicko over the past few days and I got finished with it yesterday. I saw Fahrenheit 9/11 as well, and I can say that this film is a dramatic difference. Instead of being simply anti-Bush Administration, Sicko takes it to a new level. The film is completely anti-American. However, take that in perspective. Its necessarily anti-American. Everything Moore points out in the film is truly shocking. Essentially, the movie is about people who have health insurance but are screwed by the insurance companies. It also makes an extremely good for socialized medicine. Do I agree with it? Well, not completely. Moore fails to point out in the movie the long lines that socialized countries suffer from (although he has since confessed about Canadian lines in interviews) and the deplorable conditions some health facilities are in. However, he does have an interesting point: if we can have other government-run agencies that save lives, such as fire and police departments, why not health care as well?

Whether you agree with his views or not, it is the inescapable truth that the content in Sicko is completely factual and may be shocking to some. Socialized medicine or not, the point of the movie is clear and needs to be heard: The healthcare system in America is inadequate and needs to be changed. Score: 9/10

IAIAN!!!! WHERE ARE YOU!!!?!?

[mood: schm':((((ish?] [watching: cash cab]

I wonder who writes the music for commercials. I think I'd really enjoy that job. The ones for the new Benz, DOW (Hu campaign), and Visa commercials are really catchy. Just straight up instrumentals and stuff.

Is it me, or does the host of Cash Cab have the most annoying voice ever? In fact, its probably one of the most annoying shows ever. Here's how my usual afternoons after school go: turn on Discovery, fall asleep. And I usually wake up because of this guy's annoying voice. But now, its like 10 o'clock, and I can't stop watching it. The quality of the video is piss-poor as well. I mean, can't they mount real cameras inside the cab? They're using some kinda crappy "hidden cameras" I think.

The contestants are pretty much asses, too.

  • iPhone now has 8 hours of talk time - Recently announced specs for the iPhone include 8 hours of talk time. This is better than most phones, but keep in mind, you'll be listening to music, browsing the web, and watching movies. That'll knock your talk time down significantly, down to possibly more than half. So am I going to go out and buy one now, knowing these new spec? Eh, nah. Well, maybe. Its still too much.

  • LOST: Plane crash edit - This video stitches together two or three different perspectives from all three seasons into one. Its a very interesting look and puts everything into place.

  • Kebert Xela - Amazing. A Jeopardy! contestant with no hope of winning - he has $1 left, how the hell did he manage that with the board going by only $100's? I guess he had a bad Daily Double - attempts to send Trebek back to his fifth dimension. Family Guy clip for reference.

THIS IS WHERE THE PLUG GOES!!!!! ftw

I try to follow, running as you disappear

[mood: schm':(((((ish? maybe.] [listening to: greg's last day]

I was digging through my old ipod and found a song - "Greg's Last Day" by The Starting Line. I never really was a big Starting Line fan; they just didn't really appeal to me. I find the lyrics in this song strangely intriguing, though. I'm referring to, obviously, the obvious reference to our Greg. (bonus points if you got the chiasmus in the last sentence) "Come back to PA, forever this time." I'm pretty sure PA means Pennsylvania, but hey. It fits. Maybe if Greg moves to the Ukraine or something we can find an appropriate fitting for this song.

I guess I have more time now since summer has started to do the things I wanted to do over the school year that I couldn't... oh wait. What things? Write music? Gotta practice for Guild. Work on Hublog? Can't think of what to change. Play games? Takes too much effort. Damn, thats lazy. Its hard being productive. Maybe I'll get a job and work for like... three weeks, and then leave. Hah. Right.

I guess more time just means more rambling in my posts. Hmm.

  • The Fallacy of Hard Tests - Or, justification for subtracting points for wrong answers on tests. Its a really interesting read and puts a lot of bar exams into perspective. Maybe they aren't that much smarter than us after all. This may also explain the eternal question of "dude, how did you get into IB!?" Mathematics, my friend.

  • Jim Cramer on Conan - This guy is awesome. He yells at the TV about stock picks. Watch him on channel 25, 6pm. And he's not some crazy liberal nutjob, either, as you can tell by the video. He's a freaking market analyst.

  • The father of the father of Engadget - This is a pretty touching story about the father of Peter Rojas, the founder of Engadget, the tech blog. I read the whole thing and its pretty touching. I guess if you don't really read Engadget, its just another story. I thought it was worthwhile enough and a good enough story to post as today's #1 story.

It Begins

[mood: :O] [listening to: Battles - Mirrored]

For me, the first real day of summer vacation is tomorrow. Summer vacation doesn't truly start for me until the first totally free week begins.

Throughout my travels through the internets, I find lots of interesting things. I have decided to share a few of these in what I call three letter links. The three letters will correspond to an emotion. So here they are, the three letter links:
wow
lol
ooo
aww

How nice is too nice?

To Journey's End

[mood: Good morning! (or whatever)] [listening to: Into the Woods]

Hey, guys. It took me a while to convince myself to write this, so here goes nothing.
Well, it’s finally here. Summer. We’re officially Juniors.

First of all, let me congratulate, in alphabetical order, David, Krista, Parth, & Tommy for their amazing work on the ThinkQuest website. Also, props for using (and finding a use for) BaseCamp—a very handy tool.

Well, this post was supposed to be an Apple Mike post. That brings back memories. Anyway, I’ll make it short. Well, now that the Stevenote Keynote at WWDC is over, and yes, one guy did win Stevenote Bingo. Big announcements? New Leopard features (as in 300 of them) and Safari for Windows. Seems Safari had a major problem, which it also seems they’ve fixed. The big news, the iPhone, was not so big for developers—apps will be web-based only, so… Move along, move along. Not much to see here.

So in news, I’m looking forward to Summer Residential Governor's School—it looks pretty awesome; I just have to convince myself to actually be social right from the start. I was at a GSA friend’s party this week, and I met this really nice girl (I definitely forgot to get her number) who was like, “I’m shy.” And I realized that we’re all shy, in some way. It’s a fear, not an attribute. Fear of people judging you, fear of getting attention, fear of [fill in the blank—leave a comment]. Haha, take a look at Piglet.

Any summer projects you guys are working on? I hope to make a short film. And build the Poor Man’s Steadycam. (Haha that reminds me of David somehow.) And take pictures with my dad’s awesome A1 SLR camera. Apparently it was a pretty revolutionary product. And higher construction quality than you ever get today.

I’ll leave you with my own quote: If you want to change, don’t worry about being ‘fake.’ By changing, you’re more true than you ever were.

Well, folks I think that’s enough for today. Leave a comment!

He will hear in heaven

[mood: schm':((((((ish?] [listening to: lvb]

I think that now summer has started, I can make some revisions to this site. The only problem is, I have no idea how to revise it short of redesigning the whole thing, which I do not intend on doing. Add a new section? Change the background? Widen things a bit? Who knows. I'll probably start by making the sub-title customizable; but I have to be able to edit this site on my computer first... which I'm having trouble with. Ever since my computer crashed last winter, I haven't installed Rails. But thats just technical mumbo jumbo for you guys. I'll change things around soon, I guess.

As always, suggestions with what to do (short of bringing back the marketplace - yeah, i miss it too) are welcome.

  • iPhone New York - This fan-made ad probably got me more excited for the iPhone than Apple's actual ads. I like it for some reason. I'm not really looking that forward to the iPhone, though. Battery life is too short and it's too expensive. I'd probably use it just for the ipod in it... mine's always full.

  • Pi is just a theory - Apparently, for me to be a good and educated person in this world, I must present all theories and credit them as just that. Theories.

  • Frank Caliendo - Eric or I or someone might have mentioned this guy before, but he deserves more mentioning. His impressions are mostly spot-on and pretty hilarious. I find his appearance on Letterman's impressionists week the funniest.

Appropriation.

[mood: wtf] [thinking about: wtf]

Ah our good old friend appropriation.

Quick question. Why has it been kind of chilly for the past few days? Right before that, it was like 100 degrees outside, now it's like 64 degrees. wtf?

While in the fun topic of GCC, I thought that this was a pretty interesting argument for action against global warming. A "better safe than sorry" argument.

Tommy Chong

Check it out.

Then check out the actual site. A lot of you have been asking me to see it, and here it is.

Congrats to all of the team. San Francisco, here we come.

[mood: agh] [listening to: agh]

I've gotten more pissed off this year.

I'm gonna be so glad after school is over so I don't have to deal with some people.

Rumpoling down

[mood: schm':(((((ish?] [listening to: lvb]

I figured I really have a urge for people to sign something, it feels so weird not to have people sign something. I took apart my old lyrics notebook and I hope I get enough people to sign it tomorrow. Just one day. Triffic. I think it was Don Cheadle in Ocean's Eleven that says triffic versus terriffic.

Looking through these old lyrics do really bring back memories. Fond or not, who really knows. Here are some samples from 5 songs:

Hey, listen up to the wise man
His words will take you far
Don't heed to the crack man
Cause he's not up to par

Nothing lasts forever, even if you try your best
Did you see the weather? Did you see the wind blowing west?
And did you hear my calling? I was a-saying your name

I wish I had a groupie, yes I wish I do
If I had a groupie, I wouldn't masturbate with Stu
I wish I had a groupie, yessireesirbob
If I had a groupie, I wouldn't keep this job!

Fantasizing, we're rumpoling down
Womanizing, we're rumpoling down
Fratranizing
[sic] we're rumpoling down
Hey today, hey today, won't you sing with us today?

Rolling down the highway ninty five,
just a little something you might try,
take some time off from life tonight,
just a little something I thought you'd like.
Know not the line of you and mine,
just take a breather from life

I think I like those last two the best. I have MIDI'd versions of nearly all these songs on my old computer and now I wanna hear them again so bad. All over these pages and lyrics I have keys, note names, chord progressions, and musical structural ideas scribbled everywhere. If I get onto my old computer, I'll post some of these things. Apparently, I have just found "Rumpolize" on my computer. Take a listen. And check out that killer drum solo that was the coolest thing in 8th grade. And that round at the end that I stole the idea from Feeling This.

lol ftw (potentially nsfs)

Homebound

[mood: =o] [listening to: mcknight]

I truly have become meaner this year. But i guess i kinda owe that to the discovery and extremities of vice. Sloth is so inviting.

I really enjoy macbeth. However, the quizzes i take in class are about rote memorization of minute details, so it doesn't really help me that i think of original sin, fate vs. free will, or my thoughts on Fleance.

I felt kinda bad that Watson told me that I had just barely made it, but when i looked at the grade sheet, i had a 86.2, which is well over the 85.5 that i needed. I did think it was funny when she told me that i owed her my first born. I'm thinking about skipping school today. However, i am going running with gabby after school, so i couldnt really be like 'hey dad, im sick, but can i go out this afternoon?' plus, i have an extra help session with mazzacane scheduled. I need an 88 on the retake, which i think is more than possible. And now i kinda taste something sugary in my mouth, even though ive been drinking water for the past hour. I decided to take a nap at 7. My alarm woke me up at 2.

I just realized that i dont have the scripta which im going to have to be tested on in a few hours. Like, i dont even have the list. im contemplating waking david up, but ill decide on that in a few minutes.

Im kinda done. Like, seriously.

Now that i think about it, these lines are very Protestant. Which is understandable. However, it can be construed as that simply man has choices. One could have said the same after doing a good deed, because those happen as well.

I dare do all that may become a man;
Who dares do more is none.
-Macbeth
, I.vii, 46-47

I leave you with humor, as a gift for my absence, because i know you all missed me greatly.

Set up.

[mood: bah school] [listening to: Arctic Monkeys.]

Antonio's mom really likes trying to get Eric, Antonio, and I hooked up with other girls. It's kind of scary. She likes to do that especially with Eric and me.

"Hey you like her?"
"Huh, what?"
"She's pretty isn't she?"
"O no. She's in 7th grade, way to young for my tastes."
"You aren't that much older."
There is no escape from her persistence. Well I guess our parents are just looking out for us, eh?
